We hired David Buck of New Bedford Massachusetts to do a fence installation in 2013 and we gave him a sizable amount of money to purchase materials. Now, that is the first mistake. Never give a contractor money for work he has not performed. But, here's the con game: David Buck appears as a personable, intelligent, soft spoken young man who convinced us that hard times had fallen on him. We empathized with his situation because we knew that the recession has hit many good working people hard, us included. We hired him to do a small job, which he completed in a timely manner. Because we have put our trust in other people down on their luck and have never been disappointed, we agreed to trust this man. We gave him the money to purchase the materials and that was the last we saw of David Buck.
Second mistake: we should have asked who the supplier was and paid them direct, but we didn't, we didn't think we had to. One year later we have not seen nor heard from David Buck. he doesn't answer phone calls or emails. We have been robbed of the money we put aside for this job and can't afford to pay another contractor to do the work. So, please, do NOT do business with this man, and if you do, NEVER pay him for work he has not performed!!
